Locusts, fried worms, clay cakes, cacti - this is the menu for residents of those countries that were the first to face famine.

Currently, 3.6 billion people live in areas vulnerable to climate extremes, representing more than 40 percent of the world's population.

Here are a few countries that are suffering the most.

📍 Madagascar

More than a million people in the south Madagascar is starving due to an abnormal drought.

The UN considers this famine to be the first caused by climate change on the planet.

📍 Ethiopia

Every day, 400-900 people die from hunger in Ethiopia. The drought has turned the fields into dustbins full of stunted remains of dead crops.

📍South Sudan

Food shortages or famine could affect more than 70 percent of South Sudan's more than 11 million population in the coming years.

📍Yemen

Yemen is experiencing one of its worst humanitarian crises due to extreme climate conditions and internal conflict.  More than 17 million Yemenis - more than half the population - do not know if or when they will eat again.

Our planet is entering a 12,000-year cycle of climate disasters, so such catastrophic natural anomalies will occur more and more often, leading to the death of millions of people by starvation.  Can this be prevented?

See the scientific report on climate via the link in the profile header to figure out how each of us can influence the solution to the problem.
